Dr. Alessandro D’Afiero is an Italian specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology with extensive expertise in urogynecology, pelvic-floor reconstruction, gynecologic surgery, obstetrics, and female genital cosmetic surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Naples in 1982, followed by specialist certifications in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Oncologic Surgery, as well as a Master’s degree in Health Systems Management.

Throughout his career, Dr. D’Afiero has held several senior clinical and administrative positions, including Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Director of the Maternity and Childhood Department, Founder and Director of a Urogynecology Unit, and Coordinator of regional programs in cervical cancer screening, oncology, and maternity care. He currently serves as Women’s Department Director at Santa Maria Hospital, GVM Research & Cure Group, in Bari, Italy.

Dr. D’Afiero has performed approximately 7,500 pelvic-floor and gynecologic surgical procedures and has extensive experience in obstetric care. Since 2002, he has worked as an international opinion leader and trainer across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, delivering lectures, workshops, and live surgical demonstrations. He has also developed a collagenogenesis-based surgical technique for pelvic-floor dysfunction associated with pelvic organ prolapse. He has participated as an invited speaker or surgeon at approximately 50 national and international meetings and has authored or co-authored 40 scientific publications
